Dahlias and Delphiniums

Dahlias!
Something new to my garden this year.

Dephiniums
I planted these several years ago after admiring them
in my daughter in law's wedding bouquet.

And Daisies - to keep with the "D" theme.

Next year I will pant Dahlias again. I haven't planted any in a number of years, and I don't know why. Luckily I bought a Dahlia plant(cheating I know) on Saturday and placed it in a large pot on my porch. Maybe I will try Delphiniums too. I like them because they're late summer bloomers. Out front now I have my Bee Balm for the hummers, Daylilies, late blooming fuschia, and others. I just bought a new bird bath for that area too. I may post it.

...dazzling! They're really beautiful pictures too, Mom. I've got the delphiniums, but the dahlias are yet to be discovered here. Making a mental note... can those survive over here?

Beautful blooms, Bev! We just got home...and found I have some dahlias in my garden as well. I've never tried delphiniums...my mother-in-law grew gorgeous ones.

Oh my! The dahlias are splendid! Did you see my camping post where we found fields of wild delphiniums? I mean as far as the eye could see and thick...all in the wild. I had no idea they were found in the wild like that!

thanks for the lovely pictures!

They are so gorgeous! I planted some dahlias bulbs this year - and they came up - but no flowers . . . at least not yet. Do they bloom the first year?
